Sometimes I splurge
An excerpt from my new book on chronic kidney disease: I try to avoid things I love like milkshakes, meat burgers, lots of sweets and so on, but sometimes I splurge. I guess moderation is the name of the game, but occasionally, I drink milk, eat a steak or have some chocolate.

GFR holding…
So I was not dieting super-well. I was having two pieces of bread minimum per meal, my pizza had pepperoni & sausage action, and I was having some salty food and a fair amount of red meat.

To follow, my wife made a reservation at King’s Fish House, but we thought it was at posh Santana Row, so we drove over there and parked.

Were my hosts going to suggest I use the hot tap? I figured that was okay; beggars can’t be choosers. But no, there was an extra faucet, and it dispensed boiling hot water on demand.

Recalibration
So I always have to remember my diet. My eating habits are really important to my GFR and kidney health. No, the kidney’s don’t regenerate, but if I want to maintain my GFR for longer, diet might help.
