Or, how to make everyday drinks more delectable…
I drink a lot of Crystal Light, orange juice, apple juice, homemade iced tea, and the occasional V-8 juice. As I try to avoid most excessive sodium, the low salt V-8 is less than ideal. But the others, I’ve learned to make more interesting by mixing them with each other.
Here are a few “mixed drinks” I find appetizing:
I like apple juice, but mixing it with V-8 Splash Mango Peach, and/or concentrated, carton-wrapped OJ, is delicious.
With Crystal Light, I’m less partial to the Fruit Punch and the Strawberry Orange Banana, but when I mix the straw/orange/ban with my less preferable V-8 flavor, Very Berry, the two pair very well.
For Fruit Punch, mixing in OJ helps.
Adding real juices to those that are artificially sweetened or partially artificial might also make for a slightly healthier drink, without adding the sugar of a full juice beverage.
For a great taste that you don’t have to doctor, try Crystal Light Sugar-Free Lemonade Drink Mix (4 Pitcher Packets)
My iced tea is great solo. I use a half gallon plastic container that once held milk or OJ, and after rinsing, I fill it with water, mix in 2 packets of Stevia sweetener, and a single packet of a Lipton Family Unsweetened Decaffeinated Black Iced Tea Bags 24 packet package, and chill for half an hour.
The tea is cheap, tasty and fairly healthy.
If you have or can make crushed ice, that will spike up your drinks. I just use the fridge, unless my beverages haven’t time to chill.
Enjoy!
