Prayer is definitely a blessing from the Lord, but lately, I require myself to pray in a more regimented way. Sure, I pray periodically and randomly as well, but I have a certain set of prayers that are somewhat more organized in their observance.
So some days I sit down to write or look at my computer or phone, and recall that it is time to pray before I have “fun”, so many times, I grab my prayer journal and get to work. I want to do the “fun” thing but feel a commitment to do the hard work first.
But by the time I’m done, God gives a blessing. I have a peace after praying. I feel less pressured, more calm; there is a sweet peace in my heart.
If you have difficulty getting to prayer, consider adding a more specific regimen for part of your prayer life. You may find a blessing as well.
My motivation to pray shouldn’t be to get a blessing, but rather to serve and to love, but the blessing sure is sweet.
