What a Day!

Sometimes I have a red-letter day when something good happens. Sometimes there is adversity. Today, I had several good things and one adverse thing happen at work.

I have been in the workforce for the most part, since 1980, when I was thirteen years old. I’ve worked significantly in food service, theater and sales support. In that time, I’ve had a bunch of very good coworkers and managers, and a few that were hard to work with.

My manager of nine years at my current job was the best manager I’ve ever had, and that is saying a lot. She left for greener pastures a while back, and I’ve worked with her family member until today.

Today was the family member’s last day, and that person has been the best sales support I’ve had the pleasure to train and to work alongside in my seventeen years in the field, so her departure was sad.

I also heard from my past manager today, with a kind message; a coincidence, maybe, as I hadn’t heard from her in a while. I was pleased to correspond with her, and it made for a better day.

Then, the coworker and trainer who got me started in solar fifteen years ago messaged me out of the blue, and that was a great cap to my day.

It was especially nice, because a coworker who has been difficult to work with for years, was rude to me today, and after eight years working patiently alongside him, I finally expressed my discomfort with him to my manager and him this afternoon.

Hopefully I have not upset the work balance at the firm by doing this, but I felt it was time to confront him. I wish him the best, but was upset by his words and shared my concerns with them both.

If you have a difficult day, I hope God gives you grace and patience, and that you also have kind folks drop in to see or write you, and that your day is saved in the end.

My devotional today said to not judge, so I’ll have to be more forgiving when people hurt me.
