We were looking for something to do for Memorial Day and I didn’t want to drive in a lot of holiday traffic so I chose ‘option three’, Dave & Buster’s.

We both needed shoes, and my wife was not ready to eat, so we walked around the whole mall, probably a mile or two. I managed to find some inexpensive shoes on clearance, that fit perfectly and looked reasonably good. She did not find the shoes she wanted and was ready for lunch, so we headed to our plan destination at the arcade and restaurant.

The service was excellent as always, and the menu was limited but good. I selected the Mushroom Stout Burger, with sautéed crimini mushrooms, onions, truffle zest, Guinness soaked mozzarella, bacon jam, mayo, baby arugula and roasted tomatoes.

It was a feast for the taste buds, and quite healthy, as it had plenty of veggies to go with the meat. I am not a vegetarian at the moment but I wanted to have some greens.

I asked the server if I could substitute the garlic mashed potatoes for the French fries, and she kindly agreed. The potatoes were a little extra buttery even for me but they came out in the dish that kept them hot which made them terrific despite the oily overload.

After our meal, my wife went to do some more shopping while I played games with her arcade card. I played the Hot Shot regulation size basketball game, the pitching game, the ax throwing game, and a driving game. I did okay on the first three but the driving game was crazy and I was terrible at it. She returned from her shopping and played some games too.

The climate was perfect at Dave & Buster’s, not too hot and not too chilly. The service was good and the environment was clean and family friendly. All in all it was a great day, and the traffic was pretty light except a little bit in the parking lot.

Thanks Dave & Buster’s.
