So, a year or two back, I was browsing books on Amazon and found a new alternative to mysteries: Star Trek books!

Now I was unsure if a book would be great just because it was adapted to a legendary movie series, but as I learned when reading Ian Fleming’s maiden Bond voyage, Casino Royale, these types of books can be very well written.

So when I later saw The Kobayashi Maru on Amazon, I was pleased. Not only that, but I’d always liked the story of the unsolvable Starfleet cadet test from the Star Trek movie, The Wrath of Khan.

Instead of a movie adapted from a book, this book, was an extrapolation from a hit movie that sprang from a sleeper hit 1960’s TV series.

I ordered a copy, and read great introspective tales about Kirk, Checkov, Scotty and Sulu, from when they were young Starfleet Cadets.

Later, browsing the shelves at my favorite local literary haunt, Recycle Bookstore West, I found more Star Trek books, and some Star Wars books too.

Searching my inter-library loan account, I found more Star Trek material; right now, I’m reading Star Trek, Mere Anarchy, and it’s a good read so far!

You might want to check out the Star Trek books, the ones I’ve tried are great!
