I enjoyed Sam Witwicky, and the original Transformers movie, but today’s viewing of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, was fresh and original.

For all the awesome effects and sounds, the movie is fun and exciting, but it’s the human interactions that I enjoy most, particularly in this film, with a family where the older son (Anthony Ramos) Noah, is trying to get work so he can care for his little brother who has sickle cell disease.

Also, there is the young woman, Elena (Dominique Fishback), who works as an intern in a museum, but understands more about ancient civilizations and artifacts than her thunder stealing boss.

Still, the Autobots are awesome, and the mechanized beasts that help them are really neat. I also loved their voices: Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime has a classic sound, and while I didn’t peg Peter Davidson, Peter Dinklage or Ron Perlman, Michelle Yeoh was unmistakable (I couldn’t pull her name, but I knew who it was).

I didn’t want to see Barbie, and Oppenheimer was sold out. I enjoyed this romp, not classic cinema, but good inspiring fun.

I don’t usually rate with stars, but I’d give this movie 3 of 5.
