So, I was not around for World War II, old as I am, I was born during the Vietnam War. I can remember as far back as maybe 1972, but was born before that.
I don’t remember a lot of things, however, memories fade into obscurity, and some events become so faint in my recall that they hardly seem real.
There have been people who claim the holocaust never happened, but there are still some folks who lived through the nightmare that remain with us.
It is really important that certain things, good and bad, don’t become fables.
So, when Jesus walked the Earth, many people disbelieved, but of those who believed, many suffered horrifying deaths by decapitation, incineration and other repugnant means; Saint Peter was crucified upside down.
So you can bet they meant business if they were going to be tortured and killed for their faith.
But for us who believe, those events are not in our visual recall. They happened over two thousand years ago.
So why do we believe?
Maybe we had an experience with Jesus like I did. Or maybe we went to church and became Christian by example and osmosis. Maybe we just intellectually got it and figured out the rest, but none of us today were there.
So faith is the evidence of things unseen.
Do you believe Jesus died for your sins and the whole worlds’?
I believe in you.
