Or, how I’m trying to navigate my thought life.
This might one day become a book, so prevalent a topic it is for me. I realized that the songs and thoughts that come into my head are like a sushiboat jukebox.
Have you ever been to Sushi Boat?
(Unfortunately, our local one closed)

The food floats by your table on little wooden boats, and you have to pick out what you want. This is kind of like double-dutch jump rope, because if you can’t grab what you want in time, you have to wait for that boat to circle the restaurant until it comes back.
But you always try to select the ones you really want.
However, with my thoughts, I tend to nurture the really negative ones. I am usually on top of the world, or in a pit of despair, because I haven’t learned to prioritize my thought life.
I find myself thinking ominous thoughts, singing songs that aren’t uplifting, and I don’t take heed of their impact.
I’m coming to realize that if I can operate like I am picking a song on a juke box or selecting sushi from a boat, it is important to focus on the things that are good, so that I have a better trajectory.
This is a theme I’ll focus on moving forward, God willing.
Philippians 4:8 ESV
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
