I work in sales support. I am an appointment setter. I spend my days, and have done so for most of fifteen years, vetting projects, scheduling sales appointments and collecting data.

On my weekends, I might go out to a meal, work on a book or a blog, publish something I wrote, or seek out a coveted traditional publishing deal. I’ve self-published more than two dozen books, but professional literary representation still eludes me.

On Sundays, I go to church, and during the week I pray and read the Bible frequently. On rare occasions, I am asked about my faith, but most of the time, I am waiting to get done with work (I enjoy my work!) or waiting to go to work or to write or read something.

So I am often passing the time. But I hope to make my time count. I don’t always know what that looks like, but today, when I was bored and ready for another nap, something told me to pray for one of my family groups, and I did. I am so glad to have been given this direction; this type of thing is what makes life worthwhile.

As long and boring as this life can sometimes be, recalling that our life is short, hearing of people dying or passing away, reminds me that this life is just a camping trip, and makes me want to use my life to bring others to Christ. The alternative for me is a wasted life, and for others, perhaps life in hell.

I hope you have a purpose in life, and that your time is purposeful and a joy in Christ.
